About this unit

SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling services covers the skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services and assist customers who may be at risk of, or already experiencing, gambling-related harm.

The unit applies in gaming areas at venues such as hotels, clubs, pubs and casinos. It is relevant to gambling activities including wagering, gaming machines, table games, Keno and lotteries. Depending on local regulation, it may be referred to as Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG), Responsible Service of Gaming or Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG).

What the training covers

  • Following responsible gambling procedures under state or territory legislation and venue policies
  • Communicating about gambling-related incidents and keeping accurate records
  • Providing information about gambling harm, harm minimisation and support services
  • Following self-exclusion and exclusion processes with appropriate privacy and confidentiality
  • Displaying responsible gambling signage and information correctly
  • Applying strategies that support breaks in play and make the passage of time clear
  • Responding appropriately to under-age gambling, refusal of credit, disputes and requests for assistance

Assessment requirements

Assessment must be completed in an operational or simulated gaming environment with realistic gambling activities, current regulatory information, venue policies, responsible gambling signage and role-play customers.
