About this qualification
SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery reflects the role of people working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items.
Learners complete mainly routine and repetitive tasks under direct supervision. The qualification can provide a pathway into kitchen operations, but does not meet the requirements for trade recognition as a cook.
Packaging rules
13 units must be completed:
- 7 core units
- 6 elective units, selected according to the qualification packaging rules and a valid industry-supported vocational outcome
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Career pathways
Graduates may work in kitchen operations across restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés and institutional settings such as aged care, hospitals, prisons and schools.
