About this unit
This unit covers leading the management of work health and safety (WHS) risks in an organisation. It includes facilitating hazard identification, leading risk assessment, selecting and implementing appropriate controls, and evaluating the effectiveness of the overall WHS risk-management process.
It applies to people who provide specialised WHS knowledge and guidance to a range of personnel when leading risk-management activities.

Assessment and enrolment
Assessment must comply with WHS laws, legal responsibilities and duty-of-care requirements. It must be undertaken in a safe environment that demonstrates consistent performance of typical WHS responsibilities, with access to workplace or simulated resources, WHS laws, organisational risk-management systems and opportunities to consult with others. Confirm the provider’s delivery, assessment and learner-support arrangements before enrolling.
